Appliance Service

A Legacy of Family and Community

From its humble beginnings in 1947, Fortin's Home Furnishings has risen from a small family business to a cornerstone of retail in Central Maine. What started as a modest hardware store in the garage of founders Leone and Andrea Fortin has blossomed over more than 70 years into a leading destination for home furnishings, appliances, and mattresses.

The Fortin family’s dedication to their customers and community is the foundation of the company’s success. Leone and Andrea instilled these values in their two sons Mike and Reggie, who would go on to carry the torch. As young men, Mike and Reggie were involved in the business, and their hands-on experience laid the groundwork for their leadership. In 1981, they officially took over the family business, continuing their parents' legacy with a clear vision for the future.

Under the leadership of Mike and Reggie, the company consistently adapted to meet new demands. Fortin's was an early innovator, becoming one of the first businesses in the region to sell television sets in the 1950s.

They continued to stay ahead of the curve, expanding into major appliances and electronics. By 2001, Mike and Reggie added furniture to their extensive product lines, transforming the business into a comprehensive home furnishings store. With this strategic and thoughtful growth came the purchase of the former W.A. Taylor facility, allowing the company to consolidate and expand its operations.

Fortin's success isn't just about selling products; it's about the people and the relationships they've built over generations. The company's longevity is a testament to its ability to embrace change while holding onto the core values of quality, service, and community that have defined it since day one. Today, Fortin’s Home Furnishings honors its legacy as a 24,000 Square-foot family-owned business, continuing to serve Maine with the same integrity and dedication that began in that small garage in 1947.
